Serving Little Tokyo since 1920s
Owner & chef Glen Ishii has run Jist Cafe for almost 10 years. He is a third-generation chef in a line of Little Tokyo locals and has kept his family legacy alive by keeping the secret flavor in their chashu hash dish while creating his own concoction like the crème brûlée batter brioche French toast.
Glen's grandmother was known for the Chashu Shumai Combination which was served on Fridays at her pre-World War II restaurant. We are currently making this combination available to shed light on brighter days for the community and keeping a historical item of Little Tokyo. We want to keep cheering up our families and friends during the hard times. Hang in there everyone!
